The DfT is to explore creating new orbital road capacity parallelling the South West Quadrant of the M25, having concluded that adding further capacity to the motorway itself, through widening or decking, is impractical.
The stage three report of the M25 South West Quadrant (M25SWQ) strategic study for the DfT and Highways England says there is a “compelling case” for major investment in additional transport capacity in the area.
