Uber ‘partly to blame for bus ridership fall’

Bus operators say Uber is partly to blame for a fall in passenger numbers in the West Midlands conurbation. 

Patronage fell 3% in the 12 months after the November 2015 launch of a Bus Alliance that aims to reverse the industry’s fortunes. The rolling annual average of bus boardings fell from 270.3 million in November 2015 to 262.7 million in October 2016. 

The alliance aims to grow ridership 5% by 2020.
