The Government is to take a series of powers to help it persuade Britain’s motoring public to use electric vehicles. 

The powers will be contained in the forthcoming Modern Transport Bill and aim to support the Government’s objective that by 2050 nearly all cars and vans in the UK should be zero emission. The objective is shaped by the Climate Change Act target to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 80% by 2050 against 1990 levels.
