Local authorities in the Tees Valley have secured a set of ‘checks and balances’ to limit the powers of the elected mayor who will lead the area’s combined authority from next May.
The CA was formed in April and covers the five unitary authorities of Darlington, Stockton, Middlesbrough, Hartlepool, and Redcar & Cleveland.
