The potential for an internal Scottish sleeper service connecting Edinburgh and Thurso on the Far North Line is being studied by HITRANS, the Highlands and Islands transport partnership. It has held talks with Serco, operator of the Caledonian sleeper franchise. Partnership manager Frank Roach said a train could leave Thurso at 1930, travelling via Inverness and Aberdeen to reach Edinburgh at 0530.
