Northumberland County Council has revealed details of a £190m plan to reintroduce passenger trains to a freight-only line north of Newcastle.  

Network Rail has just completed a £620,000 GRIP stage 2 feasibility report for the council into plans for passenger services on the Ashington, Blyth and Tyne (ABT) line connecting Ashington with Newcastle, a distance of 20 miles. 

Seven stations are envisaged at: Woodhorn, Ashington, Bedlington, Bebside, South Newsham, Seaton...
