Council-run bus services top Labour’s transport agenda

Labour has pledged to fight government plans to ban English local authorities from forming municipal bus companies, shadow transport minister Andy McDonald has said. These firms, says McDonald, have “proved to be so very successful”.

Speaking at the Labour Party conference in Liverpool this week, McDonald argued that every area, “not just mayoral combined authorities”, should have the right to run their own bus services.
