The next West Midlands rail franchise will deliver a large increase in train services on Sundays, and bidders have also been asked for “credible commitments” to Boxing Day services.
The Invitation to Tender (ITT), published this week, also requires all new trains for the franchise to have equipment for Driver Controlled Operation. The equipment must not depend on investments being made at stations, other than in improved lighting.
