No case for re-opening railway to passengers, says Leicestershire

Leicestershire County Council has rejected calls to re-open a 31-mile freight railway to passengers, saying the project has no business case. 

A campaign to re-open a 31-mile railway in Leicestershire to passenger use suffered a setback last week as county councillors resolved that no further investigations be conducted on the project because of its poor value for money, high capital costs, and need for ongoing revenue support.
