Orders published for Newport motorway

The Welsh Government has published the environmental statement and draft orders for the proposed £1.1bn M4 corridor round the south of Newport. 

The new 14.5-mile three-lane motorway would leave the existing M4 at junction 23 (Magor), east of Newport, and rejoin the M4 at junction 29 (Castleton) west of Newport. The existing M4 would be reclassified as a trunk road. About half of traffic on the M4 is expected to transfer to the new road.
