Outline proposals for two new road tunnels running east-west across inner London have been published by London mayor Boris Johnson.
The first, called the Northern Cross City Corridor, would run from the A40 at Park Royal to the A12 at Hackney Wick (see top map). Transport for London is undertaking feasibility work to examine the alignment and portal locations. A second tunnel further south could eventually be built linking the A4 in Chiswick with the A13 in Beckton.
