Teachers and parents to enforce parking at Thurrock schools

An Essex council is trialling a scheme where uniformed volunteers can issue fines to drivers breaking parking regulations outside schools.

Thurrock Council plans to train teachers and parents how to enforce parking, giving them the power to issue fixed penalty notices (FPNs).

The council said it does not have the resources to deploy enough civil enforcement officers outside all of Thurrock’s 50 schools.
