Contrasting fortunes for Underground and bus

Passenger numbers on London Underground continued rising in the year to 31 March but the capital’s bus ridership stagnated and tram patronage fell, according to Transport for London’s annual report.

Passenger journeys on London Underground (LU) were up 3.2% at 1.305 billion (2013/14: 1.265 billion). 

Docklands Light Railway (DLR) patronage rose 8.5% to 110.2 million (2013/14: 101.6 million), and use of the London Overground rose 3.0% to 139.8 million (2013/14: 135.7...
