Streetlighting loan ‘poor value’

Gwynedd Council in North Wales has turned down a loan offer from a Government body to replace over 10,000 streetlights with LED (light emitting diode) technology, saying it makes more sense to fund the works itself. The council says installing LEDs could deliver electricity savings of £260,000 a year and cut carbon dioxide emissions.
