Leeds City Council is to conduct a trial of Puffin pedestrian crossing technology. The council trialled Puffins in 2006 but decided not to install the equipment permanently. For the new trial, an existing pedestrian crossing will be converted to Puffin operation on the Middleton Ring Road. “If satisfactory, use of pedestrian detection equipment has the potential to reduce vehicle delays at pedestrian crossings and increase pedestrian safety at other crossings in Leeds,” said...
