No evidence longer lorries are unsafe

A trial of longer lorry trailers has had no adverse impact on road safety, an interim review has concluded. The DfT authorised a ten-year trial in 2012 of up to 1,800 trailers that were longer than the standard 13.6 metre length: either 14.6 metres or 15.65 metres. Consultant Risk Solutions says that by the end of 2014 about 1,200 longer trailers were in use on Britain’s roads.
