Parking hikes feature in Edinburgh plans to save £22m

Edinburgh City Council is set to raise the cost of resident parking permits, increase on-street charges and scrap free parking for staff and councillors as part of plans to save at least £22m in 2015/16.

The authority estimates it can make an extra £750,000 by increasing both parking permits and on-street charges. Residential permits would rise April by 10%, providing an income of £230,000, while on-street tariffs would go up by up to 30p an hour, to provide...
