Construction sector gets behind cycling safety

A range of new measures will help to reduce collisions between construction vehicles and cyclists, believes AECOM’s John Hix. Although HGVs represent just 4% of road miles driven in London, the vehicles were involved in 53% of cycling fatalities in the capital between 2008-2012, Hix told delegates at the London Cycling Show last week.

He said that the Construction Logistics and Cyclist Safety (CLOCS) programme, launched last year, is driving forward a range of safety initiatives.
