WSP buys PB for £820m

Canadian consultant WSP this week announced the purchase of consultant Parsons Brinckerhoff from Balfour Beatty for £820m.

The enlarged company could employ more than 30,000 staff: WSP currently employs about 17,500 and PB 13,500.

PB generated revenues of £1.569bn in 2013, with underlying profit from operations of £56m and profit before tax of £27m.
