Perhaps I am being over-sensitive, in a world that seems to be becoming coarser by the day, but is there not something distasteful about the presumptuous attitude of York City Council to motorists who have fallen foul of its mistake (‘York offers to repay thousands of PCNs for traffic restriction’ LTT 08 Aug)?
One should not have to beg for the return of monies taken, no doubt with the usual menaces, in the circumstances described in your report.
