With regard to issues related to the Settle-Carlisle rail route (Letters LTT 25 Jul), I will not take the bait and explain all over again why Paul Withrington’s dream of paving over railways for lorries and long-distance coaches would be a grave and costly mistake because I suspect it would now amount to extreme boredom for most of your readers but, in the interest of correctness, here are some facts.
