Boost for DfT as new minister keeps advisory role to the PM

The DfT has gained better access to the centre of Government with the appointment of John Hayes as minister of state for transport in last week’s reshuffle.

Hayes, 56, told LTT this week he would continue to serve as the Prime Minister’s senior parliamentary adviser.     

David Cameron’s reshuffle saw the departure of Stephen Hammond from the DfT but the arrival of two new ministers – Hayes and Claire Perry – taking the team up to five.
