A woman’s car was swallowed by a sinkhole that opened up in her front drive in High Wycombe during the heavy rain last month. Nobody was in the parked VW Lupo when the ground gave way on 2 February. 

The car belonged to Zoe Conran who initially thought the car had been stolen, only to realise it was at the bottom of the 9m diameter hole. It is believed that a mixture of mining tunnels beneath the ground and high rainfall caused the sinkhole.
