The GOvernment’s Airports Commission has adopted a new approach to forecasting air passenger demand, which one analyst believes could have lessons for road traffic forecasting.
The Commission has used a probabilistic technique known as Monte Carlo simulation to prepare its forecasts. “This is a better approach to capturing some of the inherent uncertainty in forecasting than traditional high/low forecasts,” it says.
