DfT authorises on-street trials for cycle-friendly traffic signals

The DfT has approved on-street trials in London of low level traffic signals located at cyclists’ eye height. 

Transport for London will pilot the lights initially on the Bow roundabout in East London where they should be installed in January. The trial will then be extended to 11 more sites in the capital. The DfT says research is currently underway on using the lights to provide an ‘early start’ for cyclists at junctions.
