Court considers if roads are ‘nationally significant

Anti-road protestors have asked the High Court to rule if a new road is a “nationally significant infrastructure project” (NSIP) just because it has a physical connection to the Highways Agency’s road network.

The case concerns Lancashire County Council’s three-mile dual carriageway M6 to Heysham link?road, which the transport secretary?granted powers for in March under the Development Consent Order process used for NSIPs.
