Weather blamed for 2011 fatality rise

The DfT has attributed the rise in road accident fatalities recorded in 2011 to a milder winter, which encouraged more people to drive. Road accident fatalities in Great Britain rose 3% in 2011 but the DfT points out that fatalities dropped a massive 17% between 2009 and 2010 – the highest ever fall recorded.
