Crisis? There’s no crisis, says Munro

Suggestions that the Government’s high-speed rail plans have run out of steam are misplaced, HS2 Ltd chief executive Alison Munro assured parliamentarians this week.

Imagine for a moment being Alison Munro. You’ve just been re-appointed chief executive of Government company HS2 Ltd for three more years when you read in a leading political weekly  that the only place your project is headed is the dustbin; your endeavours – and those of scores of civil servants and 500 consultants – will ultimately prove to be  a complete waste of time.
