£1m bill for traffic-free Waverley

New arrangements for vehicular access to Edinburgh’s Waverley railway station are close to being finalised. The DfT says the station must be closed to all except service vehicles because of the risk of a terrorist car bomb. Network Rail had planned to close the station to vehicles from the end of July but has now delayed doing so, probably until later in the year, pending the implementation of alternative access arrangements.
