Buses are greener than cars, says Defra

The Government this week blamed a miscalculation for official data suggesting buses emit more greenhouse gas emissions than cars, when measured on a per passenger basis.

The Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs said last year that buses outside London emitted 221g of CO2equivalent per passenger km (LTT 21 Oct 11).
