Arriva chief executive David Martin has called for the government and the European Union to provide more powerful incentives for the rail industry to adopt alternative low emission fuels.
Martin said that switching to alternative fuels was increasingly feasible and that Arriva had been running all its trains in Germany on 100% biodiesel for the past three to four years. However, he was concerned that governments were not doing enough to promote change....
