Councils express diverse views on DfT’s plan to devolve major scheme funding

The DfT’s plan to devolve local major transport scheme funding in England to Local Enterprise Partnership areas from April 2015 has generated a diverse range of views from stakeholders.

Consultation closes on 2 April on the DfT’s plan to devolve local transport major scheme funding to the 38 Local Enterprise Partnerships outside London from 2015. The Department wants organisations in each area to form a local transport body (LTB) to set spending priorities and has suggested that neighbouring LTBs could form local transport consortia to set priorities over a larger area.
