Philip Rutnam has been named the DfT’s new permanent secretary, replacing Lin Homer, who was appointed chief executive of HM Revenue and Customs last December. Rutnam is currently director general business and skills at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, and has previously worked in the Treasury as well as corporate finance at Morgan Stanley in Hong Kong. He takes up his new post on 11 April.
