Dean Finch, Chief Executive, National Express Group

07 February 2012

Why is he on the list?

Finch has real authority to build on NEG’s unique strategic strengths.

What kind of year has he had?

Finch has stamped his presence on NEG, crushing a rebellion by largest shareholder Elliott, and delivering his promise to improve performance across the group. Crucially, he appears to have dealt with the concerns of the Cosmen family, NEG’s second largest shareholder, over NEG’s prospects as an independent business, and the remaining Bowker disaster legacy.

What’s coming up in 2012?

Will develop plans to use the strong Spanish coaching business to expand into neighbouring countries and possibly South America. Finch’s administrative excellence coupled with the entrepreneurial know-how of the Cosmen family and a strong team of non execs is a top combination.
