Southern sun for Govia as profit levels double

COMMUTER?train company?New Southern Railway achieved a 57.1% increase in operating profits in the 52 weeks ended June 30  2007, according to its latest accounts. The improvement was achieved on the back of double digit passenger growth, but also increased subsidy levels.

The company, owned by Govia, the joint venture between Go Ahead Group and French transport operator Keolis, has operated the South?Central franchise since taking over from Connex in 2001. It won a new franchise in 2003...
