The DfT this week dramatically revised downwards its air passenger forecasts for the UK.
The new forecasts suggest the number of passengers will rise from 211 million in 2010 to 335 million in 2030 (within a range 300–380mppa) and 470mppa in 2050 (within a range 380-515mppa).
Forecasts published in 2009 predicted that demand by 2030 would reach 455mppa.
The new forecasts are based on the assumption that there will be no new runways built in the UK.
