Consultancy Turner and Townsend has been appointed to manage the Edinburgh tram project, taking over from the council’s in-house firm, TIE.
Turner and Townsend has had involvement in light rail projects in Croydon, Dublin and Nottingham, and will now become responsible for delivering the Edinburgh scheme which has been hit by repeated delays and cost overruns. Further redundancies will now be made at TIE, which may be wound up.
