The DfT has urged local authorities promoting major transport schemes to find even more reductions to the amount of funding required from central government.
The message is conveyed in a letter to local authorities with schemes in the development pool. There are 45 schemes in the pool chasing £630m of DfT funding. But when the pool was set up last year the total expected call on DfT funding was £945m.
