PTEs and councils poised to play bigger role in local rail

Passenger transport executives and some local authorities will play a bigger role in the management of local rail services in England if, as expected, the Government accepts the recommendations of Sir Roy McNulty’s value for money review of the rail industry.

McNulty’s final report was published this week and recommends giving PTEs and/or local authorities more decision-making and budget responsibilities for local rail.
