Gloucester council staff must pay for parking

Free staff parking is due to be scrapped at Gloucester City Council. Under the proposals, staff who want to drive to work will have to pay a parking charge. This will be set at £200, £250 or £300 a year depending on salary.

Cutting free parking for staff will save £75,000 a year, the council estimates. A council spokesman said: “In the current economic climate the council is having to look closely at all aspects of revenue and income, and given the costs involved...
