Housing developers in Surrey will be given more freedom to provide car parking in new developments under revised parking standards being prepared by the county council.
Surrey County Council’s existing policy, drawn up in 2003, encouraged restraint in parking provision. But officers told Surrey’s transport select committee that, as there was no policy to restrict car ownership, “there is little to be gained in heavily restraining residential parking”.
