Casualty data doesn’t support guardrail removal fears

Where there is no clear safety benefit, Transport for London considers if pedestrian guardrail can be removed from the TfL road network, as in many cases it can be inconvenient for pedestrians and intimidating for cyclists. Since our guardrail removal programme began in September 2008, we have removed 60km of guardrail across the capital. At many locations, this has been done by reducing, rather than entirely removing, the amount of guardrail.
