SPENDING CUTS could force councils to strip their transport activities back to core services such as maintaining assets, a local politician said this week.
The warning came as local authorities in England identified hundreds of small-scale transport projects that will have to be scrapped or deferred to meet the £309m in-year spending cuts imposed by ministers.
