London mayor Boris Johnson and Transport for London announced late on Friday that they have concluded an agreement with Bechtel and Amey to acquire their stakes in London Underground infrastructure company Tubelines for £310m.

The agreement means that all London Underground infrastructure operations will return to public sector control and the end of the road for the controversial Public Private Partnership scheme to upgrade the capital's Tube network.
