High street chemist giant Boots has threatened to move all its parking spaces out of its Nottingham headquarters if the city’s workplace parking levy becomes law. There are 4,500 spaces at the head office, with 3,000 in Nottingham and the rest at its Beeston site three miles southwest of the city.
Nottingham council has been granted permission by the government to introduce the levy from 1 April 2012. The levy will start at £253 and rise to £306 by 2015.
