Richmond's carbon-metering system is live

05 October 2009

The London Borough of Richmond-upon-Thames ‘carbon metering’ scheme started on 1 October. This is a means of levying a lower parking fee on vehicles with less polluting smaller engines.

To receive carbon metered discounts motorists either have to pay using the RingGo phone parking system or at Zeag parking pay stations via a new Richmond smartcard, available from the council. Cash will still be an option, but choosing this method will mean paying the highest tariff.
