Just 15% of motorists detected speeding or jumping red lights in the capital this year are likely to face the possibility of prosecution.

The figure emerged as TfL this week confirmed it is studying whether some functions of the capital’s safety camera operations can be outsourced to the private sector. The idea has attracted a sceptical response from the Metropolitan Police Service.
