Boris Johnson has announced massive rises in bus and Tube fares and the central London congestion charge as part of his attempts to balance the budget.
From January, bus fares will rise by 12.7% and Tube fares by 3.9%. TfL’s new planning assumption is that fares will then rise by RPI+2% in January 2011 and in subsequent years to ensure that income keeps track of rising costs and TfL’s investment programme can be funded.
