Signing rules eased for contra-flow cycle lanes

The DfT has announced changes to signing to make it easier for local authorities to allow contra-flow cycling on one way streets.

Currently councils usually need to use engineering measures to create a dedicated cycle lane at the entry point to the one-way street. But the DfT has now authorised the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea to used an ‘except cyclists’ sign on existing ‘no entry’ signs without the need for engineering.
