The secretary of state for transport, Andrew Adonis, has given the go-ahead for upgrading Victoria Underground station with a new ticket hall, lifts and additional escalators. When complete the scheme will increase the size of the station by 50% - it currently suffers from severe overcrowding during the morning rush hour.
